Our classes had a field trip to the Richmond Nature Park, where our host Erika talked about how the island of Richmond today was created, the importance of Spaghnum Moss, bog habitat, how climate change has changed the land significantly. We walked down the time trail and thought about the changing environment in the passage of time. We dedicated some time to active silence in a clearing within the wooded area and thought of ourselves as a bird, animal or plant and to feel how it would be one of those beings for a brief moment and to be conscious of their existence. Along the trail we walked through a coyote passage way, observed labrador tea, saw the proliferation of blueberry shrubs and a basking turtle in the pond habitat. We returned to wild bird viewing area to begin a wooden bird craft project.
