Introduction to Emergency Programs

On February 1st and 8th Sarah Hunn from the City of Richmond Emergency programs branch came to Ferris Elementary for two presentations. The first presentation was an introduction to Emergency programs including recent experiences, current trends, the response levels of different government agencies and the first steps to preparedness. The students had many questions and often asked about the risk of a Tsunami in Richmond.


In the second presentation Sarah presented a more in depth presentation about the steps of preparedness.

The top risks as defined by the City of Richmond are

Earthquake
Severe Weather
Extreme Heat
Flooding
Power Outage
Air Crash
Fire
Active Threats
Hazardous Materials
Pandemic
Air Quality Event
